- What types of observations did my peers make that were similar to mine? How and why are they similar?
Some of my peers took notice that technology in the art room was accepted and utilized, such as in my school where they were integrated into lessons and used for specific purposes. Most of us also agreed that students today have a much more involved experience and educational connectivity in the art rooms compared to that of our past experiences.
- What types of observations did my peers make that were different to mine? How and why are they different?
My peers noticed that in some art rooms technology was restricted and some students had the issue where the teacher was very lenient on allowing technology, which caused the technology to take away from student engagement.
- Did you find the discussion with your peers of your observation experience helpful to you as a future art educator?
I found the discussion to be very helpful and encouraging meaningful assessments in classrooms during observation hours. It is insightful to understand more of what happens and even just the structures and systems of different art classrooms in different school settings.
- In your next observation hours to complete (for this class or others), will you view things differently? If no, why? If yes, why?
Yes, I will take notice of student to student relationships and seek to understand what teachers can do to engage more of their students and how technology can be used as an advantageous tool to channel this engagement whether it be something as simple as a video or searching for a reference image.
